Hello and Welcome to The Twenty-Something!

My name is Emily and I am the admin of The Twenty-Something! If you are visiting this blog, at this point in my life, I am ~social distancing~ as I hope many others are too and I am aiming to be candid about what that looks like from a college senior’s perspective. I called this Twenty-Something so I could have 10 years to develop and grow this to be more than just a bunch of photos and one-liners one day. Eight more years to go!

What you really need for your first year at college

When I was going into my first year at college I compiled all the lists I could find online into one big list and I got so much stuff. My rooms were always full with just random stuff. There were positives and negatives to this for sure. I definitely made a few friends because people knew they could come to my room for a hammer or screw driver but packing up every year and resettling into a new room every fall was a pain. So, here is my official list (with a downloadable PDF checklist) on I think every first year needs and also what you can wait to buy.…

    College Playlist

A collection of songs from the past four years of my life. If I were to give any advice to incoming college freshmen it would be to start a playlist in your first year and add the songs that speak to you the most or you can’t get off of repeat over your time at college. This playlist can be found at Apple Music and Spotify Along the Road by Karmin “Experts at eighteen with warm beer and caffeine” Good Old Days (feat. Kesha) by Macklemore “Never thought we’d get old, Maybe we’re still young, Maybe you’ll always look back, And think it was better than it was. Sober Up…

    ~Social Distancing~ Playlist

Find this playlist on Apple Music and Spotify In the midst of everything happening in the world I needed a new playlist to boost me up and keep me positive. I couldn’t listen to my college playlist because that would make me sad and my morning and summer playlists were just not the vibe. This is more of the vibe I need. Better Days by OneRepublic Be a Light (feat. Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin & Keith Urban) by Thomas Rhett World Gone Mad by Bastille Rainbow by Kacey Musgraves Happiness by Laura White Amazing by Foxes Cut to the Feeling (feat. Ashleigh Murray) by Katy Keene Cast All…

    ~Social Distancing~ Post 1

To Geneseo, my home away from home It has been a really long time since I have posted, mostly due to a lack of time between school and all the other things happening in my life. Now I find myself with an abundant amount of time. Maybe I would have had this time anyways because technically it is spring break, but that would have been voluntary. Free time away from people is fun when it’s by choice. Free time away from people is not fun when you’re told that’s what you should be doing. The past week has been rough, I can’t lie. Everything is so sudden. This is a…

The List of Things to Do in D.C.

At the beginning of my internship, I put together a bucket list of things I wanted to do before I left D.C. Throughout my two months living there, I went with my internship friends and suite-mates to do as many things on the list as physically possible and we found some other gems along the way. Here is that list with some modifications to include my favorite things I went to see and do this summer in Washington, D.C.
